Childwall derived from Old English Cilduuelle, the pronunciation was similar to todays pronunciation, Chillwall [1]. The word Cilduuelle derives from the Old Norse words Kelda Vollr meaning spring field [2]. Within Old English it was translated to ‘a stream where children would meet’ [3].
